The Center for Adult Learning (CAL) provides a community learning environment for adults who are no longer part of the K-12 educational system as well as for adults who meet criteria for the English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program. GED®classes offered by CAL: GED® Math – Receive instruction or just brush upon adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing whole numbers and fractions, solving word problems, and understanding decimals and percentages. GED® Algebra/Geometry– Receive instruction or just brush upon algebraic concepts that include signed numbers, solving equations, word problems, exponents, roots, and graphs.

Geometric concepts covered in the class include lines and angles, triangles and quadrangles, and circles and volume. GED® Language Arts – Receive instruction or just brush upon basic grammar, build vocabulary, improve spelling, and increase reading comprehension. GED® Essay Writing - Learn how to write an essay with a review of grammar, mechanics, and punctuation. The topics covered include sentences, paragraphs, subject-verb agreement and verb tenses. English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Free English classes for non-native speakers. Four levels of conversation classes are offered as well as drop-in conversation groups.

Career Online High School (COHS) is an online high school diploma and career certification program funded by the Jacksonville Public Library. This program offers a limited number of scholarships to qualified adult students.

Residents of Duval County who have completed eighth grade and are 18-years-old or older are eligible to apply. Program applicants must have a Jacksonville Public Library card in good standing or be willing to apply for a library card. Scholarships are limited.
